ACLP's Special Interest Group (SIG) for Emergency Psychiatry

(Academy of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry)

The Emergency Psychiatry SIG is among the largest and most prominent organizations of physicians focused on emergency psychiatric practice. The SIG provides a way for Academy members to:

  • Connect over a shared interest in emergency psychiatry;
  • Ensure that the Academy maintains its leading role in advancing the treatment of behavioral emergencies;
  • Provide networking opportunities for SIG members;
  • Develop content for the annual meeting;
  • Collaborate on shared research and clinical projects;
  • Share best practices; and,
  • Promote state-of-the-art science in emergency psychiatry among Academy members.
  • The SIG welcomes Academy members from all practice settings–whether seeing an occasional consult in the emergency department or practice full-time in crisis services.

Quarterly Annotations on Journal Articles of Interest can be found here.

The Emergency Psychiatry SIG shares ACLP’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We welcome diversity of thought and experience, and we aim to make professional and networking opportunities open to all SIG members in a transparent, welcoming manner. It is vital that we provide quality mental health care in emergency departments and crisis centers, whose patients are disproportionately minority and underserved.
