About Michael Wilson

Michael Wilson, MD PhD FAAEM FACEP FASAM, is an Associate Professor at the Virginia Tech-Carilion School of Medicine, where he serves in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Psychiatry. Board-certified in Emergency and Addiction Medicine, Dr. Wilson is a prolific researcher whose work on behavioral emergencies and substance use has been cited over 5600 times (h-index 35, i10 index 78). He currently serves as the President-Elect for the American Association for Emergency Psychiatry and Senior Associate Editor of the Journal of Emergency Medicine.
